A family celebration of food

Fantastic food and family fun take centre stage at Lainston House on Sunday 17th July, as the Exclusive Hotel shows its support for Help for Heroes.
This action-packed free event, which runs from 11am to 4pm, features an array of entertainment, including live music from the Winchester Military Wives Choir, cooking demonstrations from the Seasons Exclusive Cookery School chefs, traditional fairground games and face painting.
There will also be an opportunity to meet the hotel’s resident falconer and watch her birds of prey display, a children’s treasure hunt around the hotel grounds and plenty of refreshments available throughout the day.
A host of market stalls will also be in attendance, offering the finest local produce and home-made treats.
Andy MacKenzie, Executive Chef of Exclusive Chefs Academy, explains the inspiration behind the event: “We have so many amazing local producers in Hampshire and we wanted to showcase them as well as ourselves by opening up our house and grounds and raising money for charity.
“An old friend of mine is in a military wives choir in Sandhurst and I kept seeing on Facebook the amazing work the choir did in her local area and what talented singers they were, and wanted to showcase their talent at the hotel. It seemed fitting to then choose Help for Heroes as the charity.
“We have been running a chef’s academy programme within Exclusive Hotels and are just about to start the recruiting programme for the third year students. We would be delighted if this event inspires people to join the industry but quite simply it would be amazing to think people can pick up tips to start cooking in the home or become more confident to try new ideas.”
