Winchester Distillery will host its first cocktail competition at the Forte Kitchen Winchester, on Monday 16 October.
Mixologists and bartenders will be taking part in what promises to be a colourful display of creative talent and skill in putting together their ideal gin & tonics and cocktails.
Both drinks will feature spirits solely from the Winchester Distillery range including:
Twisted Nose gin and vodka
Hampshire Gins including Hampshire Fine Dry, Gunpowder Gin and 4 seasonal gins
Winchester Dry Gin
Entrants have been asked to consider taste, presentation, servability, ingredients and history as the main criteria they will be judged against. Sitting on the panel will be James Golding Chef Director at THE PIG HOTEL Brockenhurst, Gareth Maxwell Export & Sales Manager at Hattingley Wines and Gary Whiter Co-Founder of the The Cabinet Rooms.
Three shortlisted candidates will be asked to present their cocktail or gin and tonic on the night and a finalist will be decided from the judges panel.
Commenting on the competition Paul Bowler, Founder and Master Distiller at The Winchester Distillery said:
'We have received a very positive response to the competition. I am excited to see their ingenuity and flair for mixing drinks using our Spirits. Mixologists and bartenders have become an important part of the hospitality and catering sector and it is important for us to be part of this growth.'
The competition winners will each receive a year’s contract with Winchester Distillery to act as a Brand Ambassador. With this they will be provided with a stock of Winchester Distillery spirits and be given various opportunities at trade and consumer events around the county (and beyond) to demonstrate the versatility and individuality of Winchester Distillery spirits and their personal skills as cocktail experts.
