Port Solent to take visitors back in time next week with Retro Rewind event

Next weekend waterside leisure destination, Port Solent is giving its visitors the chance to take a stroll through memory lane, with a brand new festival celebrating a range of eras across the 40s, 50s, 60s and 70s, Retro Rewind, on Saturday 27 July 2019.

Throughout the day, visitors will have the chance to learn how to swing dance from the Swing Dance Company, enjoy a traditional Punch and Judy show and jump and jive to a fantastic line-up of live music.  This includes everything from an assortment of nostalgic bands, including Portsmouth-based retro covers band The Shakeups, rock ‘n’ roll band The Rock ‘A’ Toons to swing singer Miss Amy Baker and her Swing Band.

Visitors will also be able to peruse an array of retro goods at a vintage-style market filled with old timey stalls, as well as a brilliant display of classic cars. Plus, the fantastically fun, eight feet tall, Bridie the Tea Lady, who previously featured on Britain’s Got Talent, will be dancing with her cake trolley.

Port Solent also announced a new addition to the festival this week from Gracie-Ann’s Tea Room, which will be hosting an outdoor vintage afternoon tea and will be joined by the Vintage Sweethearts performing nostalgic music from the world of the 40's and 50's.

Lisa Fowler, Events and Marketing Manager, said: “We’re excited for our new event Retro Rewind to take place next week. We hope the event will bring together lovers of all things from the past to enjoy a bit of history in a fun and upbeat way. It promises to be a great day, jam-packed with activities for all the family.”

“We encourage everyone to recreate their favourite pin-up look, comb that quiff, and grab their dancing shoes and join us for a fun-filled day of nostalgia.”
