A supercharged weekend filled with kindness, fun and fundraising…

Following the huge success of CarFest North at the end of July, Chris Evans is all geared up to return to Laverstoke Park Farm with CarFest South. The UK’s most family-friendly festival returns to Laverstoke for a super-charged weekend of cars, music and fundraising from 23rd – 25th August.

The brainchild of radio presenter Chris Evans, CarFest has been described by the thousands of die-hard fans as ‘the biggest ever village fete’ with a mission to bring the true spirit of family to life. The weekend is packed to the brim with activities for every member of the family, underpinned by great music, celebrity chefs and plenty of cars!

As well as featuring more cars than ever before, superb and breath-taking track shows and a host of top manufacturers showcasing their latest offerings, the festival will host a specially curated paddock by former Formula 1 Champion and owner of Laverstoke Park Farm, Jody Scheckter.

Scheckter celebrates 40 years in F1 and winning the Drivers’ Championship with a showcase of amazing Grand Prix cars through the decades, including grand prix winning ERA, Coopers and Bugattis alongside a selection of other iconic grand prix cars.

South African-born Sheckter, made his Formula 1 debut at the US Grand Prix at Watkins Glen in 1972 with McLaren, soon followed by time with both Tyrell, Wolff and finally Ferrari, where he won the Drivers' Championship in 1979. Marking this 40th anniversary at CarFest, Scheckter says of his memorable career: “Being 40 years since winning the Formula One world championship has made this year very special for me – I nearly feel like a racing driver again!

“At Carfest this year not only are we going to have a display with all my cars from my whole career but what is maybe more exciting is a proper little race circuit, designed by a company that designs some Formula One circuits, has now been completed on the farm - isn't that cool! It has improved the experience for both the public and people who bring their cars.  In addition to this, Carfest will feature a new Grand Prix Through the Ages demonstration and display with its own paddock. A carefully curated collection of 30 very special Grand Prix cars starting from before the war and telling the story of GP racing from 1906 to 1996! It is very exciting for me and hopefully for all the families that come to Carfest!”

This year, CarFest South will also feature a host of interactive content for visitors created by AutoTrader, Michelin, Kwikfit, Subaru, Peugeot and Mercedes Benz, alongside Car Clubs and major manufacturers showcasing a huge range of cars from Aston Martin, Lamborghini, BAC Mono, Toyota, McLaren and Caterham to name but a few.

Auto Trader is sponsoring the main stage and will be hosting a stand for visitors to check out the winners of this year’s ‘Auto Trader New Car Awards’ and learn more about finding and buying brand new cars.

As well as featuring more cars than ever before across the whole site, CarFest South will feature four new worlds packed to the brim with new and exciting activities for the whole family. The four new worlds of fun and adventure include Eden, Kids Kingdom, Vintage CarFest and Car-Feast featuring the new BarFest Arms hosted by Timothy Taylor. The Kitchen Stage will feature a line-up of celebrity chefs including Great British Bake Off favourites Candice Brown, Celebrity Masterchef winner Angelica Bell, TV chefs Glynn Purnell, James Martin, Jose Pizzaro and Prue Leith amongst a host of others.

The weekend will also see CarFesters rock to the sounds of musical legends, going on a veritable musical journey through the decades with performances from Alex Horne & The Horne Section, Boy George & Culture Club, Bjorn Again, Fisherman’s Friends, Jack Savoretti, Jools Holland, Judge Jules, Kaiser Chiefs, Lissie,  Rick Astley, Sister Sledge, Texas, The Human League, Tom Grennan, Tom Odell, Tony Christie, The Jacksons and the CarFest Supergroup featuring The Feeling, Sheridan Smith, Roger Daltrey, Rob Brydon and Sophie Elis-Bextor.

CarFest, was created by Evans in 2012 with the sole purpose of raising funds for UK children’s charities has over the past seven years successfully raised over £13.5million for BBC Children in Need. This year the festival has added a further four charities to the mix and alongside BBC Children in Need who will receive 50% of the funds raised, with Ellen Macarthur Cancer Trust, Rainbow Trust, Starlight Children’s Foundation and Teenage Cancer Trust receiving 10% each*. The final charity to receive 10% will be announced shortly.

Each of the charities will also bring their amazing work to life in the Tent of Inspiration with speaker sessions and a range of family fundraising activities including special appearances by the much-loved BBC Children in Need mascot Pudsey accompanied by Blush joining TV presenter Ade Adepitan on stage.  As part of the festival’s commitment to fundraise, CarFest has partnered with fintech company iZettle to offer contactless donation points across the festival, which allows visitors to simply ‘tap to donate’ to show their support.
