Titchfield Festival Theatre's Oliver is the hottest show in town!

Posted: 16th June 2022

TFT's biggest ever production Oliver! opened this week - and if you haven't bought your ticket, you are missing a treat! Below are comments from just two of the many happy theatregoers this week:

" What an achievement.... You should all (new, experienced, older, younger) be very proud of tonight and I really hope your run goes well. Multiple casts, clever use of staging, scenery, lighting and sound - Sassy and the team - take a bow, you deserve it." LW

"Thoroughly enjoyed watching... Oliver! tonight. Well put together and performed by all. This is the second time my son has seen this musical and this production kept him engaged throughout. He insisted we got pictures with some cast - but not Bill Sykes!! [😂] "CO

Sassy is our Deputy Artistic Director and is directing this show. You can read more about this fantastic Lionel Bart musical here and book your tickets online. There are a total of 18 shows in all - and you don't have to pick a pocket (or two) as the tickets are only £10 for a great evening's entertainment.

However, there is plenty more to keep you entertained this summer. Our next Shakespearan play at the Great Barn is Titus Andronicus. A revered general of Rome, Titus Andronicus returns victorious from war against the goths. His defeated captive, Queen Tamora, swears vengeance against him and his family, and with the help of her sons, enacts her revenge in the most evil way imaginable. This ignites a vile and twisted game of one-upmanship that builds into a visceral tale of political turmoil, personal vendetta and a climax of destructive passion. Titus Andronicus opens on 28 June and performs until 7 July.

Who doesn't enjoy a murder mystery? But Why Bump Off Barnaby is an adapted comedy/drama opening on 13 July. Read here about why this play is so close to director's Franchesca Nicholson heart - and how you can help our local hospital by buying a ticket. You can even try and solve the murder too!

Our final featured show is Emilia opening on 26 July at the Great Barn. Celebrate women’s voices through the story of this trailblazing, forgotten woman. 400 years ago Emilia Bassano wanted her voice to be heard. It wasn’t. Could she have been the “Dark Lady” of Shakespeare’s sonnets? What of her own poems? Why was her story erased from history? Emilia and her sisters reach out to us across the centuries with passion, fury, laughter and song. Listen to them. Let them inspire and unite us.

We look forward to seeing you soon.
